I let negativity creep in. I usually bounce off the walls with energy and love and joy and peace, but I started to complain about things, silly things.
When God takes care of our big problems, we can easily forget what we had been saved from and start sweating the small stuff again.
But praise the Lord, we do not have to stay in the “sweat the small stuff” hole. It is Spring-time! Let us lift our gaze, adjust our crown, sons and daughters of the Highest and smell the roses.
One of my great inspirations, Aussie, Nic Vujicic, the man without limbs who lives a life without limits, got revelation that he was uniquely positioned to encourage people, not because of what he has, but precisely because of what he does not have.
God gave me a unique platform too. He gave me a powerful testimony so that I can encourage people who battle “chronic”, “progressive”, “incurable” situations and medical conditions, that we can do life well, despite our circumstances, because Jesus gives the strength and the wisdom and because we serve a God of miracles.
I believe that all good things, including medical science are from God, and I also believe what John 8:32 says, “when we know the truth, the truths will set us free.”
There are many advances in medicine, but doctors are still baffled at what the “root causes” of many illnesses and chronic pain are, but this surely got my attention! Thank you, Beverly Sanchez.
The impact of a sharp tongue on our health:
Proverbs 16:24 says that well ordered words are as a honeycomb: sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Does this mean that badly ordered words and an unwholesome tongue, is gal to the soul and illness to the bones? Is this why we become bitter? Are our thoughts and words part of the reason why our bodies are riddled with aches and pains?
Antidote: Practice thinking and saying kind words. Instead of killing and destroying with our tongue, let us ask the Lord to give us words that will bring healing and comfort to others and self. The Bible teaches that there is power of life and death in the tongue. Let us use this power wisely.
The impact of strife, contention and unforgiveness on our health and bones:
Psalm 31:10 says: "For my life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing. My strength fails because of my iniquity. My bones are wasted away."
Antidote: Regardless of who is at fault, we should stop holding grudges, stay away from silly arguments to prove whose opinion is right, forgive easily and pray for those who make our life miserable.
The impact of envy and jealousy on our health and bones:
Proverbs 14:30 says: A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.”
Antidote: Never compare, but if you must, compare with the millions who have less than us. This creates a grateful heart and a grateful heart is a happy heart and a happy heart is a healthy heart.
The impact of fear on our health and bones:
Job 4:14 says “fear and trembling seized me an made all my bones shake.”
Antidote: Develop trust in God for His protection and provision. Meditate on Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The impact of depression, anxiety, and sadness on our health and bones:
Proverbs 17:22 says that a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Antidote: Stay away as much as possible form things which promote unrest, fear or sadness such as news reports, and negative people. Let us be vigilant about who we spend our time with and what we allow in through our mouth, eyes and ears.
I say the house can wait for another day; who is up for some “spring-cleaning” of body, mind and soul?
Philippians 4:8 is a great starting point:
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
It is a great day for spring-cleaning indeed!
