On Sunday, the 8th of January, my friend Gail Evans said: "Amanda, you have what you have because you refused to give up".
Saturday, the 7th of January 2017 was a glorious day! My beautiful daughter married her high school sweetheart and in her words: "There is nothing I would change; it was a perfect wedding and a perfect day." And I say, Glory to God!
But January 2016 was completely different. It was a roller-coaster month. A year ago, on Saturday, the 9th of January 2016, I shaved my hair in preparation of a Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and on Tuesday, the 12th of January 2016, Charl and I boarded the plane for Tel Aviv, Israel to receive whatever God had in store for us. It was much more than a medical journey. I needed a miracle.
I often hear that I "always" smile, but it actually is not true.
Like most women, I cry when I am happy and I cry when I am sad :-)
My friend Henriette took this first photo just before they shaved my hair and I cried tears for my husband and children. I knew how traumatic this journey was for them, but bravely they stood with me - "in sickness and in health" springs to mind.
On that note, I almost fainted when I saw this video clip!

My dear friends, I shudder to think what I could have missed out on if I believed everything the doctors and medical reports said and lost hope and gave up.
Although MS worked hard to put my brain in a wheelchair and at times I struggled - I cannot deny this - I could truthfully and triumphantly declare that I was doing well because all along, it was well with my soul!
Because God looked at me with compassion and honoured our faith and restored my health, I boldly declare: The best is yet to come!
Please be encouraged to never lose hope and to never give up.
